About
THE ARTISTE

Anvi Prabhu is a London based award winning artiste with a prolific, virtuosic practice across the fields of classical dance, acting/film-making, visual arts, literature, art writing, and philosophy. She has extensively performed, exhibited, taught, and been artist-in-residence across India, China, Bhutan, the UK, and the USA.

With an uncompromising technical prowess in her chosen art-forms, Anvi approaches each with sensitivity. Rooted in intuition, rigor, and emotional intelligence, she demonstrates equal command within the classical and formal vocabulary of each discipline; alongside a dedication towards interdisciplinary creations that explore, bridge, and expand the boundaries of form.
Be it mixed media paintings, insightful writings and poetry films, or performances layering Bharatanatyam, Classical Ballet and theater; she brings a rare blend of artistic excellence and creative innovation that speak to both the intellect and the emotion.

Raised in a lineage of artists and thinkers, Anvi was immersed from an early age in a world where creativity and contemplation coexisted. Her father, Sri Srinivasa Prabhu, is an acclaimed Kannada actor, playwright, and theatre director; her mother, Smt. Ranjini Prabhu, is a leading voice in contemporary Kannada poetry. This inheritance of both artistic depth and literary rigour shaped Anvi’s approach from the very beginning.

THE ARTISTIC IMPULSE
Anvi's desire for artistic merit is stimulated by a penchant for profound ideas and influenced by philosophy. Her process is both research based and practice based. Technical mastery and depth of concept hold equal weight. Her works seek to blend the imaginative with the intellectual, creativity with scholarship.
Anvi is interested in the layered complexities and intricacies of the human experience. She looks at the broader fundamental questions of existence as well as individual lived experiences and contemporary narratives that spark introspection.
She continues to seek and develop a unique and individualistic artistic voice, often challenging the status quo, normative discourses, and veering away from the ‘systems’ we are used to operating within.

ART-PRENEUR
Anvi is the founder of several independent platforms that reflect her multidisciplinary ethos:
-
SOUL SAUCE LITERARY (2023): A biannual international magazine publishing original poetry and fiction at the intersection of literature and philosophy.
-
STUDIO VIOLET (2024): A fine art space offering original and limited-edition works that merge visual storytelling with aesthetic precision.
-
MID LIGHT PRODUCTIONS (2018): A creative house for screendance and experimental films directed by Anvi, with a focus on movement as cinematic language.
Each initiative extends her commitment to meaningful, cross-disciplinary storytelling.

LEADERSHIP AND EXPERIENCE
Since moving to the UK in 2017 on a Global Talent Endorsement from Arts Council England, Anvi has steadily built an independent artistic practice that combines creation, curation, and cultural strategy.
She served as Marketing Manager at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, London, for five years, where she also curated and managed a range of artistic events. This role gave her a unique insight into the needs of artists and institutions alike, and further strengthened her understanding of how to build sustainable, visionary creative ecosystems.
She currently continues to expand her practice as a freelance artist.
